From the recording Pedalling In The Fast Lane

When I wrote this song I wantd it to have African lyrics to go with the kind of Township vibe of he track. I don't know any African languages so my downstairs neighbours at that time in Brighton shared several bottles of wine and we took it in turns to make up and African sounding word. These became the lyric of the song, apart from 'Harkuna Matata' and 'Punani'!
The title of the track 'Bendiem Dief'comes from that fact in the flat where we were making up the lyrics was a fine shelving unit, made by Lewis Punchard, who lived in the flat. The shelving unit was made out of flexible medium density fibreboard or bendy MDF.
